Remote Viewing Scoring
Several scoring methods are available in the Remote Viewing Test. All methods give a score between 0 and 100, higher for a better match. Select a scoring method at the bottom of the RV Test page before submitting your description. The Original Scoring method evaluates the match between your description and every picture in the target pool using measures of accuracy and reliability. Your score is then the rank of the actual target match among all possible target pictures, given your description. Thus the score depends not only on your match with the judges' opinions, but how well your description discriminates the target from all other pictures you might have seen. (This method is a typical one used in psychological testing, but sometimes gives unexpected results, since some descriptions match several pictures well.) Note that keyword matches are not counted in this mode.
The Match Judges, Rank method simply compares your description directly to that supplied by the judges. The better your description agrees with the judges', the higher your score. Then it compares your score on the current target picture with all other pictures in the target pool in a manner similar to that of the Original Scoring method. Keyword matches also contribute positively to your score.
The Keywords Only method considers only the keywords, and ignores the property descriptors.
In all methods where keywords are employed, only the first 5 words are used.
The Remote Viewing Hall of Fame shows a cumulative summary of each participant's scores. Note that a run with consistently slightly-better-than-average performance tends to rank higher than a run with a few really high scores.
Please note: Automatic scoring of Remote Viewing trials can never fully capture the associativity and subtlety of human perception. These scoring methods are experimental, and we invite your comments by email.
